[Editor's note: this is a guest post by Ned Watkinson over at the The SWTOR Show. Ned was nice enough to give us his impressions from recently playing a healing Operative, and his unique insights are appreciated!]
Recently I was at the Eurogamer Expo and got to play as an Imperial Agent Operative healer in PvP. As I’ve seen very few write ups on this style of IA gameplay, I thought it would be a good idea to give my thoughts on what it was like.
In this match, I was around level 14 and had about ¾ of my action bar filled with skills and abilities. I had three heals, several ranged attacks, several melee attacks, and at least one DoT, so I was at a pretty low level. Of course, everyone else in this match was at this level as well; we were balanced, so the match was only about skill.
Since I was specced into healing lets go over the heals I had at my level. I had a channelled heal with a fairly long cooldown, I had a long cast “power heal” and I also had a medium cast heal over time (HoT). Of course, since the match started right away, and BioWare doesn’t allow anyone to take pics or write anything down, I wasn’t able to record the specific name of each individual skill.
Overall, the healing went pretty well. I was able to keep most people alive even with two or three people beating on them. Providing I wasn’t attacked I could heal to my heart’s content, and the heals were definitely enough for my level to be able to heal very adequately. I also remember getting beat on by four or five enemies and managing to survive quite well; the Operative healers’ survivability seems high considering he’s wearing medium armour.
